ADVANCING MATERNAL HEALTH

/ SQUAREROOTS /

CONTEXT

A group of entrepreneurs, scientists, and senior Vatican officials had spent months preparing to launch a maternal health innovation incubator in Rome -- but their marketing materials were not ready to present to the many corporate leaders and philanthropists that would be attending their summit at the Vatican in a week’s time. They flew me to Rome to help them get things sorted before the launch.

COMPLEXITY

With a week to go before the summit and knowing nearly nothing about the inner workings of the Vatican, the 26% of global healthcare facilities controlled by the Catholic Church, or maternal health, I landed in Rome.

CREATIVE RESPONSE

After immersing myself in the initiative’s work and interviewing its leaders, I rewrote their value proposition and key talking points. I then worked with a team of South African designers and a Roman printing shop to produce a fundraising prospectus that was presented to some of the world’s leading philanthropists and senior Vatican officials.
